Time flies!

So, the last year and one half was big. For those of you who thought I'd disappeared into the abyss forever; allow me to reintroduce myself.

I am Steven William Verre
I have Acute Myeloid Leukemia

In 5 days I will be receiving a bone marrow transplant thanks to my big brother. This will allow me to live another amount of indefinite years, hopefully somewhere in the 50-60+ range. This would bring me somewhere in the neighborhood of 75+ years on this planet. I could talk all day about this subject and I'm sure in future rants and speculations it will come into play... for now let's discuss even bigger events.

The president of the United States will be elected in less than 6 months! It seems politics brings me out from under my rock despite my complete and utter cynicism for it. But we had a big shake up this time around as you all know. A woman (white) and African-American male contending front-runners for the most coveted job in the world.

Today Hillary endorsed Obama for the presidency; officially ending the democratic party's race for a candidate. Did this just kill his chances for the election or unite the party behind a common goal? Time will give us the answer but if you ask this mind racer only one thing gonna happen in 08'. John McCain.

I hate to piss all over everyone's feel good happy happy joy joy fun, but reality is people would have elected Hillary over McCain, not Obama over McCain. A new term will be coined for his lose in November, The Silent Racist.

A similar effect to the Silent Majority. All of you thinking I am crazy, take note because Obama is going to lose in a landslide ensuring another 4 years of gridlock politics as the democrats take the majority of both houses.

I will be reporting back soon to dribble more sweet nothings into the ether of the Net' now that I am not under time constraints.

You Are Looking Live...

at yet another midterm election which will result in gridlock for yet another president's last two years in office.
I live in a weird place (Milwaukee), but Wisconsin just confuses me. The voters ban gay marriage AND vote for an advisory referendum so we can have the death penalty. Both of these being conservative views and policies; yet we vote in a democrat for governor and the state senate and state house are democrat majorities...I don't understand the logic. Is it we want conservative values, yet can't vote for conservative politicians? If so, then how do you suppose that our values will be represented in congress? Do we just like to punish ourselves? I suspect masochistic nature is more the answer than anything else. Most people feel disenfranchised enough by the government, but just imagine how much exponentially greater it feels when the person you voted for doesn't do anything he/she platformed on or said he/she would get done.

Once again this isn't exactly groundbreaking, because it happens all the time and all around the country. So what to do about the state of current affairs? Honestly I don't have slightest damn clue, but I do that a change should come soon or will perish in our own hypocrisy. The freest nation on the planet and a 50% turnout is considered exceptional?! Now I am not for everyone voting ie; felons, illegal aliens, etc... But what has happened? I encourage everyone I meet to vote if they are able. Get informed, read a newspaper, website, pamphlet, anything jeez. Is it too much to ask people? I don't think so.

  1. "Apathy is the glove into which evil slips its hand"
  2. "All that is needed for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing"
  3. "As the heart grows cold, so in turn does life"

Choose your favorite, because all three apply to this country and what is more, people[politicians] count on the fact that YOU, yes YOU, don't vote. Basically, in-a-round-about way, what I'm saying is SCREW YOU NON-VOTING PUNKS! MOVE TO FUCKING CHINA, BECAUSE IF YOU CAN'T RESPECT THE PRIVILEGE TO VOTE AND THEN PROCEED TO BITCH, LEAVE!!!

I feel infinitely better and if you know someone who didn't vote give that person a wicked charliehorse.

High Comedy

By now the people who read this blog know that I pretty much just vent the brain here, and in the process, attempt to make the reader think about what has been written. Well today's subscription will not be too far off course. The subject of which comedy "rat pack" was/is the best of all-time. There are three "packs" in this Mexican style shootout. May the best men win.

  1. The OG Squad: Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Sammy Jr., Frank Sinatra,
  2. The 80's Squad: Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Chevy Chase
  3. The New Squad: Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell

This shootout will have different aspects upon which squads will be judged, the events/criteria used will be:

  • Actual Humor- Are they really that funny?
  • Diversity of Talent- Is it a one trick show?
  • Staying Power- This event will obviously be curved in order to prevent unfair advantage
  • Chemistry- Who is the best total unit?

the scores and explanations coming soon.

Mentally Cascading into Nowhere

Due to recent debates I've had in my life, along with readings, articles, statistics I've come across; I have realized there is no Absolute Truth to anything. Merely different wavelengths of the truth, call them variations, p.o.v's whatever you want. Scientifically speaking, the mere observation of a subject changes that subject's reaction to the events happening to it. Crazy? Maybe, but that is debatable for another time. So far things stated here aren't anything new or transcending, so why speak about it? Glad you asked.

More mental digression will be present in this obtuse and inaccurate thesis that I will unveil. For no one has experienced the same life I have, even people witnessing the same events as me remember it differently. Human Nature refuses to bend to another's will whether that be nature or another living organism. This I feel is the cornerstone to every single achievement and horror to have been unleashed on this world. Even in true "democracy" where every person counts and matters, a person must insert their viewpoint and debate it. Why let other people decide your fate? That is a question no one has a good answer to and the realization that there is no good answer means your brain is sinking into its basest components. For some nice circular logic how about this: we believe what we believe because it's what we believe. Sounds ridiculous but this is the logical argument 90% of people use to argue their belief whatever it may be.

Can we break this base thinking and expound our mental capacities to think in broader scopes? I truly believe that we cannot, bleak as it is, without a evolutionary spark to change homo sapiens there will not be an end. Even this may not be the answer, if every human looked the exact same in every way and maintained the same beliefs has every other single human we would still find a difference. Example, I live on the east bank of a river, you live on the west bank therefore you are different and I will kill you if I must. All the logical reasoning powers that humans posses have still not allowed for anyone to overcome the animal that lies within. In fact the people that embrace and accept this animal in us that overrides logical thought (be it in certain contexts) are people in power and very successful.

Altruism and Idealism are luxuries of the powerful and the bait used to make people without power to believe that they matter. For the real luxury of true power is the ability to relinquish power without loss to your own and recoup it at moment's notice. Disagree? Good. You may say, what about leaders who have proven that people can overcome...My question is where are they now? Gandhi was assassinated, so was MLK, Joan of Arc burned at the stake. Eventually all of them become pages in history and the people in power redouble efforts and with the modernization that has taken place in the last 50 yrs there can no longer be such a force to develop, at least not in the USA.

So reach in deep and pull on the tail of your inner animal. Get mean and dirty, feel the raw power surge through your veins as the ancestry of a thousand years and brutality are summoned up to propel you to the top of the food chain. "Buy the ticket...Take the ride".
